Types of 12V Battery

The 12V lithium battery is the most low-maintenance and longest-lasting battery available. More energy can be stored per unit of weight or volume, making them a great choice for applications where space is limited. They also weigh about half as much as lead-acid batteries.

Lithium batteries are spill-proof and can be stored in any direction you’d like. Big win! Because they’re made from non-toxic materials, they’re the safest option for the environment too.

An lithium-iron 12V battery last on average 10+ years and that’s not susceptible to charging and discharging issues. There are so many perks to choosing lithium, including Bluetooth monitoring and a built-in battery management system.

The only negative thing we can mention is the price. They are more expensive than the other battery types. But when considering all of the maintenance that comes with other batteries and how long a lithium battery will last, the price is simply an investment. You’ll likely spend less in the long run!

12V Flooded Lead-Acid Battery

Flooded lead-acid 12-Volt battery is one of the most common and oldest battery technology. It is usually used in applications such as golf carts, marine and solar power system.

Pros: Lower cost, easy to recycle, durable

Cons: Flooded lead-acid 12-Volt batteries require regular maintenance, such as adding water and checking the specific gravity, and that they can spill or leak if not properly sealed or handled

12V Sealed Lead-Acid Battery

Sealed lead-acid 12V batteries are commonly used in applications such as backup power supplies, emergency lights, security systems, and rechargeable devices. Different from flood lead-acid battery, it does not require regular maintenance or water refilling. More resistant to spillage, leakage and vibration.

Pros: Low cost, durable and easy to recycle

Cons: Lower energy density, shorter lifespan, higher self-discharge rate than other type of batteries

Some advantages of 12V gel batteries are that they are relatively low-cost, durable, and easy to recycle. Some disadvantages are that they have lower energy density, shorter lifespan, and higher self-discharge rate than other types of batteries
